Tteogkuk Festival

Finally I have reached my computer to tell you about wonderful event I attended few days ago.
The Tteogkuk Festival was organized by Presidential Council on Nation Branding for the participants of World Students in Korea (WSK) bloggers program.

Tteogkuk - is a special soup which Korean people eat on New Year (according to lunar calendar) and symbolizes that one year had passed and with full understanding of the passed events you enter the New Year. But for small kids the explanation of eating Tteogkuk is more simplified. As you might know, small kids are often refuse to eat, so during this holiday is accustomed to say that eating Tteogkuk  you multiply one more year to your age. So  since most of the kids are eager to grow up, this explanation works very well.

So during that event the chairwomen of Presidential Council on Nation Branding Bae Yong Lee introduced us traditional Korean holidays throughout a year, including Korean New Year.

We also tried a wonderful Korean food, traditional for this holiday

Tteogkuk, rice with a few different kinds of grains, kimchi and traditional Korean drink makkoli

Also we watched amazing Pansori (a genre of traditional Korean music) performance
and even learnt how sing it

The other pleasant thing of this event was the meeting of my "colleagues" - students in Korea from all over the world, participants of the program.

At the end of the program we could share our thoughts and impressions of the event eating delicious desert

Thank you WSK for the wonderful time ^^
